Gwan-pyo Nam
2nd Deputy Director, Office of National Security
Amb. Gwan-pyo Nam is the 2nd Deputy Director at the Office of National Security, Republic of Korea. Since he passed the high civil service exam in 1978, he successfully fulfilled his duties as a career diplomat. Among many posts Amb. Nam undertook, he was a consul at the Consulate General in Chicago, United States in 1986, a councilor at the Embassy of the Philippines in 1995, Director of Policy in 1997, Deputy Director-General for Treaty Bureau in 2002, Director-General for Policy Planning in 2006. From 2011 to 2014, he was the Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary, and from 2015 to 2017, he was the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden. He also served as the honorary ambassador of International Advisory Panel for the Busan Metropolitan City in 2008 and for the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2014. Amb. Nam received a B.A. in Law from Seoul National University and an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University SAIS.
